Overview
- The CONI Giunta will meet on Tuesday, October 6 to vote on declaring Giovanni Malagò’s FIGC election void and on proposing a commissariamento of the federation.
- The Autorità Nazionale Anticorruzione formally found no incompatibility for Diana Bianchedi and said her resignation led to archiviazione while leaving any decision about her right to vote to CONI.
- Four jurists commissioned by CONI agreed that being tesserato was required for candidacy but explicitly left it to the Giunta to judge whether that omission rises to a “grave violation” warranting commissariamento.
- The Giunta’s outcome is expected to be narrowly contested and, if it approves commissariamento, the proposal must still be ratified or can be overturned by the larger Consiglio Nazionale, making the dispute two-stage and volatile.
- Both sides plan immediate appeals if commissariamento is ordered, so the vote is likely to start a long legal fight that will test CONI’s rules on ‘gravi violazioni’, the authority of its bodies, and the reputations of officials involved.
