Overview

• Philip Sean Grillo, a candidate for the congressional seat previously held by George Santos, was found guilty of five charges related to his conduct during the Jan. 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol.
• Grillo entered the Capitol multiple times, at one point through a broken window, and was recorded saying, 'We f---ing did it, you understand? We stormed the Capitol.'
• Despite being a candidate for Congress, Grillo testified during his trial that he had 'no idea' that Congress convened inside the Capitol building.
• Grillo's sentencing date has not yet been set.
• A special election to replace Santos, who was expelled from Congress following a scathing House Ethics Committee report, will be held on Feb. 13.
