Congressional Candidate Convicted for Role in Jan. 6 Capitol Breach

Philip Sean Grillo, a candidate for the congressional seat previously held by George Santos, was found guilty of five charges related to his conduct during the Jan. 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol.
Grillo entered the Capitol multiple times, at one point through a broken window, and was recorded saying, 'We f---ing did it, you understand? We stormed the Capitol.'
Despite being a candidate for Congress, Grillo testified during his trial that he had 'no idea' that Congress convened inside the Capitol building.
Grillo's sentencing date has not yet been set.
A special election to replace Santos, who was expelled from Congress following a scathing House Ethics Committee report, will be held on Feb. 13.
