Overview
- Sabarinadhan, a former MLA, will lead the Congress push to retake the 101-member corporation in which the UDF currently trails the LDF and BJP.
 - Senior leader K. Muraleedharan announced a vehicle rally across all wards from November 3 to 12 to spotlight the party’s case for change.
 - The initial slate features 48 candidates, including M. S. Anilkumar in Kazhakuttam and Johnson Joseph in Ulloor, with further seat-sharing talks ongoing.
 - Sabarinadhan is expected to contest from Kowdiar after relocating because his home ward, Sasthamangalam, is reserved for women.
 - In the present council the LDF holds about 52 seats and the BJP 35, and CPI(M) sources say the party is weighing S. P. Deepak as a candidate as Mayor Arya Rajendran is seen as unlikely to run.
