Congress Passes Bill Protecting Gas Stoves From Federal Regulation

The House voted to bar the Consumer Product Safety Commission from banning gas stoves or limiting their ability to regulate them.
Two GOP-led bills passed to prevent the federal government from banning gas stoves despite the Biden administration denying any plans to do so.
The bills were proposed in response to some cities banning new gas stoves over climate change and energy use concerns and the Energy Department proposing efficiency rules that could ban half of gas stove models.
The White House opposes the bills as blocking "common-sense efforts to help Americans cut their energy bill" though neither is expected to pass the Senate.
The Save Our Gas Stoves Act bars the Energy Department from setting stricter efficiency requirements for gas stoves and passed with bipartisan support though Biden may still veto it.
