• The Kasturba Marg police registered an FIR under several Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections against Vartak and three others for allegedly posing as CBI officers at Anil Gupta’s Borivali residence on September 2, 2024.
• Anil Gupta approached Kasturba Marg police after the CBI confirmed no raid or complaint had been authorized against him or his firm.
• Gupta’s company, Sai Rhythm, was recently raided by the Enforcement Directorate in a land-grabbing probe over 41 unauthorized buildings in Agarwal Nagar, Vasai East.
• Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and other evidence to establish the identities of the three co-accused who accompanied Vartak.
• Vartak has denied any wrongdoing, saying he cooperated with individuals who claimed to be CBI officers and calling the allegations a political vendetta.
