Congress Inaugurates New Headquarters After 47 Years at Iconic Akbar Road

The Indira Gandhi Bhawan at 9A Kotla Road was inaugurated by Sonia Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, marking a historic shift for the 139-year-old party.

The Congress Party officially moved its central office to the newly constructed Indira Gandhi Bhawan on January 15, 2025, after operating from 24 Akbar Road for 47 years.
Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Rahul Gandhi led the inauguration ceremony, which included a ribbon-cutting, lamp-lighting, and speeches by senior leaders.
The new five-story building features modern facilities and designated spaces for key leaders, including offices for Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Rahul Gandhi on the fifth floor.
Approximately 400 senior Congress leaders, including CWC members, PCC Presidents, and former Union Ministers, attended the event, highlighting its significance in the party's history.
A minor controversy arose as posters referring to the building as 'Sardar Manmohan Singh Bhawan' were spotted, speculated to be a tribute to the late former Prime Minister.
