Condusef Reports 25% Rise in Debt-Collection Complaints in 2025

Fresh figures underscore fraud-heavy disputes in Mexico City with substantial refunds secured for consumers.

Complaints against collection agencies reached 27,361 from January to November 2025, up from 21,777 in the same 2024 period.
In Mexico City during 2025, Condusef handled 40,688 cases with 2,503.3 million pesos claimed and 282 million pesos recovered for users.
Possible fraud, chiefly unrecognized card charges and unauthorized electronic transfers, accounted for 31.6% of CDMX complaints.
Credit and debit cards plus personal loans made up 43.7% of banking disputes, while five banks concentrated 46.3% of cases, with Banorte the only top-five lender to post an increase (+14.5%).
Iztapalapa, Benito Juárez, and Gustavo A. Madero logged the most complaints in the capital, and 57.6% of cases were managed electronically through Condusef channels including REDECO.
