Concacaf Launches Inaugural W Champions Cup for Women's Clubs

The new tournament, starting August 2024, aims to elevate women's football in the region and qualify teams for the FIFA Women's Club World Cup.

Concacaf has announced the launch of the first-ever W Champions Cup, set to begin in August 2024, featuring top women's club teams from North and Central America and the Caribbean.
The tournament will serve as a qualifying event for the proposed FIFA Women's Club World Cup, with 11 clubs participating based on sporting merit from their domestic leagues.
The competition format includes a preliminary round and group stage matches from August to October 2024, followed by semifinals and a final in May 2025.
Three NWSL teams are expected to participate, though specific teams have not yet been announced. Eligibility may include NJ/NY Gotham FC, San Diego Wave, and North Carolina Courage.
Concacaf president Victor Montagliani emphasized the tournament as a significant step in developing women's football in the region, following the success of the W Gold Cup.
