Conagua: Pacific Low South of Baja Likely to Become Tropical Cyclone Kiko This Weekend

  • The low-pressure area south of the Baja California peninsula has a 50% chance of formation in 48 hours and 80% in seven days, according to Conagua.
  • It was last located about 1,245 km southwest of Cabo San Lucas and is moving west-northwest near 24 km/h.
  • If the system consolidates, it would be named Kiko under the official Pacific list.
  • A second low is expected to develop off Jalisco, Colima and Michoacán with about a 50% chance of becoming a cyclone over the next week.
  • Moisture from the monsoon and nearby circulations will bring showers and strong storms to Sonora, Chihuahua, Durango, Sinaloa, Nayarit and Baja California Sur.
