Overview

  • Spokesman David Cid said Comuns will not open negotiations on the Generalitat's 2026 accounts until the inspectorate is operational.
  • The inspectorate was agreed in April with the Govern, ERC and the CUP to police the housing law, including rent caps and abusive lease practices.
  • The hiring plan called for 60 inspectors by June 30 and roughly 100 by year-end, but only 15 have been added via the Consumer Agency so far.
  • Further staffing through the Housing Agency remains on hold pending legislative changes that are moving through the Catalan Parliament.
  • Government sources say they are fulfilling commitments and working to implement the agreement, while the delay threatens the budget timeline also pressured by ERC's financing demands.
