Compassionately Released Convict Accused of New Armed Robbery

Markham David Bond, previously sentenced for armed robbery, faces life in prison if convicted of new charges.

  • Markham David Bond, 60, who was granted compassionate release after serving 26 years of a 46-year sentence for armed robbery, is accused of committing another armed robbery.
  • Bond allegedly robbed a courier at gunpoint on August 18, stealing $145,000 in cash from an armored carrier outside a bank branch in Los Angeles' Westchester neighborhood.
  • Authorities found Bond's car, which contained a blue duffel bag and the same Raiders hat that the robber wore on the day of the robbery, according to security camera footage.
  • Bond was arrested on November 22 at home, where officers found a .40 caliber pistol and 10 rounds of ammunition, a maroon-colored shirt similar to one worn by the robber, and crumpled cash totaling $9,005, found in multiple plastic bags inside a mini-fridge.
  • If convicted of the new alleged crimes, Bond faces life in prison.
