Overview
- Commodore officially announced the Alien Breed 35th Anniversary Collection on Monday, August 24, 2026, and set a digital launch for September 24 on PC, PlayStation and Xbox with a Nintendo Switch release to follow later this year.
- The package includes all six original Amiga-era Alien Breed titles from 1991–1996, bringing together the series’ 2D and early 3D entries in one downloadable collection.
- Each game is presented faithful to its Amiga originals while adding specific modern features such as twin-stick control mapping, instant save states, retro visual filters (CRT and scanline options), rumble feedback, and peer-to-peer online co‑op where supported.
- Commodore worked with retro-preservation studio Antstream and cooperated with Team17 on the ports, and the company emphasized the collection is a standalone download that does not require Antstream’s streaming service or a persistent internet connection.
- The release includes new challenge modes including Rush Mode (an online cooperative competitive format) and solo Horde Mode, and Commodore is using the collection as a test of its revived publishing strategy while offering an in-universe archive of concept art and developer materials for fans and preservationists.
