Commodity Prices Surge: Crude Oil and Gold Lead Gains

Benchmark U.S. crude oil and gold prices saw significant increases in Monday's trading session.

  • Benchmark U.S. crude oil for May delivery rose $1.32 to $81.95 per barrel, while Brent crude for the same delivery period increased by the same margin to $86.75 per barrel.
  • Wholesale gasoline for April delivery slightly rose by 1 cent to $2.75 a gallon, and April heating oil increased by 3 cents to $2.68 a gallon.
  • April natural gas experienced a decline, falling 4 cents to $1.62 per 1,000 cubic feet.
  • Gold for April delivery experienced a notable rise, increasing $16.40 to $2,176.40 per ounce, with silver and copper also seeing slight gains.
  • The dollar strengthened against major currencies, rising to 151.48 yen from 151.46 Japanese yen and to $1.0837 from $1.0804 against the euro.
