Overview
- The oral trial in Corrientes resumed this week and on Tuesday the federal prosecutor cited a local comisario and media workers to give testimony as part of the case over the disappearance of Loan Danilo Peña.
- The witnesses named by prosecutor Carlos Schaefer include Orlando Ezequiel Cáceres, the local comisario; journalist Christian Adrián Balbo; cameraman Valentín Ignacio Correa; and José Alberto Núñez.
- Seven people are on trial accused of Loan's alleged abduction and concealment, among them a former municipal official, a navy captain and an ex-police chief who face criminal charges linked to the child’s disappearance in June 2024.
- A separate, parallel investigation lists ten additional imputados accused of diverting the probe, usurping titles and illegitimate deprivation of liberty, and prosecutors say some witnesses called this week are connected to those ten.
- The court also reprogrammed the in-person testimony of Ramón Dupuy, who leads an association in memory of his grandson, and family groups attending the hearings say the witness statements could change how evidence ties the two cases together and affect the search for answers.
