Overview
- An act signed on Sept. 7 by FAECYS and the employer chambers formally moves the 2026 Día del Empleado de Comercio from Sept. 26 to Monday, Sept. 28 and treats the moved date as a holiday for the sector.
- The transfer applies only to workers covered by the Convenio Colectivo de Trabajo 130/75, meaning retail and commerce employees recognized under that collective agreement receive the day off.
- Most supermarkets, wholesalers, shopping mall stores and similar outlets are expected to close, though owner‑operated shops and premises staffed by workers not covered by the commerce regime may open.
- Employers may require covered employees to work on Sept. 28 but must pay a 100% surcharge under article 166 of the Ley de Contrato de Trabajo, and the agreement bars using the day as a compensatory weekly rest (no 'franco compensatorio').
- In Entre Ríos the moved sector holiday on Monday will be followed by a provincial holiday on Tuesday, Sept. 29, which affects schools, banks and provincial administration and may create consecutive days off with different legal scopes.
