Come From Away’ Leads 2025–26 U.S. Season as Lauren Gunderson Tops Playwrights

The rankings reflect 1,602 productions with customary exclusions for Shakespeare titles plus A Christmas Carol.

  • Eileen Sankoff and David Hein’s ‘Come From Away’ is the most-produced title of the season with 23 productions, according to American Theatre’s new tally.
  • Eboni Booth’s ‘Primary Trust’ ranks second with 21 productions, followed by Jonathan Spector’s ‘Eureka Day’ with 14.
  • Rounding out the Top 10 are ‘Fat Ham’ and ‘Frozen’ (9 each), ‘The Heart Sellers’ (8), and seven-production runs for ‘Ain’t Misbehavin’,’ ‘Dear Evan Hansen,’ ‘Little Women,’ and ‘The Roommate.’
  • Lauren Gunderson is the most-produced playwright with 24 productions across multiple works, including new outings for ‘Little Women,’ ‘Ada Twist, Scientist & Friends,’ and ‘Anthropology.’
  • American Theatre compiled the lists from 1,446 productions at 293 TCG member theatres plus 156 non-member and commercial entries, continuing a series begun in 1994 with a pause in 2021–22.
