Columbus Police Release Alleyway Video of Person of Interest in Tepe Double Homicide

Investigators are seeking neighborhood footage from the early hours of December 30 after the couple were found shot inside their home with no signs of forced entry.

Overview

  • Spencer, 37, and Monique Tepe, 39, were discovered dead on December 30 after coworkers requested a welfare check when Spencer missed work, and their two children were found unharmed and are now with relatives.
  • Detectives estimate the killings occurred between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. upstairs in the home; three 9 mm shell casings were recovered, no firearm was found, and police say they do not believe it was a murder-suicide.
  • Police released surveillance showing a hooded person walking in an alley near the Weinland Park residence during the suspected timeframe and are asking residents and businesses to share recordings from that window.
  • 911 records show an employer’s initial request for a wellness check, followed by calls from friends who reported hearing children inside and then seeing a body; medics pronounced both victims dead at 10:11 a.m.
  • The Franklin County coroner describes the deaths as apparent homicides pending autopsy results, and a family member says a tearful April 2025 911 call linked to the address was placed by a party guest, not Monique.
