- The U.S. Postal Service will be closed with no mail delivery, but private carriers such as FedEx and UPS plan regular pickup and delivery.
- Most bank branches will be closed; TD Bank and Chase will open select locations, with some Chase transactions posting the next business day.
- Federal, state and many local government offices and courts will be closed, and school and municipal services vary by location, including Boston’s MBTA running subways, buses and The Ride on a Saturday schedule.
- Most grocery stores, big-box retailers and many restaurants will be open with possible adjusted hours, and New York City’s Columbus Day parade is scheduled on Fifth Avenue with NYPD-published street closures.
