Colorado Woman Gored by Mule Deer, Authorities Search for the Animal
Suspected feeding by humans may have led to the deer's loss of fear and subsequent attack.
- A 67-year-old woman in Silver Cliff, Colorado was gored by a mule deer buck outside her home, resulting in a puncture wound to her left leg and significant bruising on her right leg.
- The woman was able to get back inside her home and alert her husband, who took her to a hospital in Pueblo for treatment.
- Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) officials are currently searching for the deer, which they plan to euthanize if found.
- CPW suspects that someone may have been feeding the deer, causing it to lose its natural fear of humans. A bird feeder and bread were found in the woman's yard.
- CPW area wildlife manager Mike Brown emphasized the importance of not feeding wild animals and giving them the space they need.
