Colorado Woman Charged After Mother Mauled to Death by Dogs

Jessica Hoff, 47, was arrested on March 21, 2025, in connection to the February 3 death of her 76-year-old mother, LaVonne Hoff, in Colorado City.
LaVonne Hoff, who had dementia and required round-the-clock care, was left alone while Jessica ran errands; she was fatally attacked by dogs in the home.
Authorities discovered 54 dogs and seven birds living in unsanitary conditions across two properties owned by Jessica Hoff, with several animals in poor health.
Jessica Hoff faces charges of criminal negligence resulting in the death of an at-risk adult and 54 counts of aggravated animal cruelty.
Hoff remains in custody at the Pueblo County Jail with a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 27, 2025.
