Colorado Teen Shot in Face by Town Councilman While Seeking Homecoming Photo Spot

The 17-year-old was attempting to get permission to use the property when the councilman fired through the car windshield, authorities say.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 10, in Conifer, Colorado, as the teen and his friend were scouting locations for homecoming photos.
The boys had parked on a public road, jumped a fence, and were writing a note to the homeowner when Brent Metz, 38, allegedly shot the teen.
Metz, a Mountain View town council member, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, felony menacing, illegal discharge of a firearm, and reckless endangerment.
The teen was hospitalized with serious facial injuries but has since been released and is recovering at home.
Authorities confirmed that the teens' actions did not appear malicious or criminal, and the investigation is ongoing.
