Colorado Teacher Sentenced for Sexual Abuse of Special Needs Student

Kay Ewer, 28, admitted to sexually assaulting a 16-year-old student, introducing him to drugs, and coercing him to bring a gun to school.

Kay Ewer, a former paraprofessional at Brady Exploration School, pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a special needs student and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The inappropriate relationship began in September 2023 and was uncovered in November 2023 after another teacher noticed concerning writing on the student's worksheet.
Ewer sent thousands of messages to the student, referencing sexual encounters and urging him to bring a gun to school to harm a colleague.
She also introduced the student to drugs, including fentanyl, and manipulated him emotionally while exploiting him for money.
Ewer was sentenced to four years in prison, followed by a minimum of 10 years of probation under the Sex Offender Intensive Supervision program.
