Brandon Olsen, 44, broke into the Colorado Supreme Court building in the early hours of Tuesday, firing shots and setting a fire in a stairwell.
The incident occurred after Olsen fled the scene of a two-vehicle crash in front of the Judicial Center, reportedly pointing his gun at the other driver.
Olsen held an unarmed security guard at gunpoint, took the guard's keys and moved to other parts of the building, including the seventh floor, where he fired more shots and started a fire.
The incident resulted in significant water damage due to the activation of sprinklers, leading to the closure of the center for several days.
Despite initial speculation, the Colorado State Patrol confirmed a high probability that the incident was not connected to the recent ruling by the court to remove former President Donald Trump's name from the 2024 presidential ballot.
