Overview
- Colorado Springs officers responded around 11:30 p.m. Nov. 13 to the 500 block of South Nevada Avenue, where an officer fired multiple rounds after a man raised a rifle, striking an adult man and woman who were hospitalized in stable condition.
- Investigators are still determining whether the two wounded people were suspects, and the armed man was taken into custody without further incident and has not been publicly identified.
- The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is leading the officer-involved shooting investigation, and CSPD plans to publish a significant-event video with body-worn camera footage within 21 days as required by state policy.
- Resident Cody Flahive, who said he called 911 about a break-in at his unit, reported hearing six to eight shots and seeing two people carried out on stretchers.
- In a separate case early Nov. 14 in Denver, two officers shot a burglary suspect on South Parker Road after he set down a knife-like object, then grabbed it and lunged; the man was pronounced dead at a hospital as state agencies assist the inquiry.
