Colorado Fugitive in Child Exploitation Case Captured in Mexico and Returned to Arapahoe County

He faces arraignment in Arapahoe County on Oct. 13.

Overview

  • David Anthony Jaramillo, 38, is in custody at the Arapahoe County Detention Facility after eight years as a fugitive.
  • He was detained in León, Guanajuato, on Aug. 23, transported to Texas the next day, and extradited to Colorado on Sept. 8.
  • The case began with a 2016 online sting in which an undercover Denver officer posed as a 14-year-old on MeetMe.com, leading to Jaramillo’s 2017 guilty plea for sexual exploitation of a child.
  • Authorities say he also faces active warrants in Jefferson and Weld counties for alleged offenses including child prostitution, sex assault on a child, internet luring, felony menacing, assault, and child abuse.
  • The arrest followed a three-month joint investigation by the FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force, FBI personnel in Mexico, Mexican law enforcement, and Arapahoe County deputies, with investigators believing he had been in Mexico since 2022.
