Colorado Braces for Early Winter Storm with Heavy Snow in High Elevations

National Weather Service forecasts significant snowfall and temperature drops across Colorado's mountains this weekend.

The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts up to 12 inches of snow in the highest elevations of Colorado by Sunday evening.
Temperatures will plummet starting Saturday, with the Denver area seeing a nearly 20-degree drop from Friday's highs.
A winter weather advisory is in place for areas above 11,000 feet, warning of up to 9 inches of snow and gusts up to 35 mph.
The storm will bring rain and thunderstorms to lower elevations, with rain expected to start Saturday afternoon and continue through Sunday morning.
The Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon will see impacts from the storm, with snow and summit temperatures in the 20s expected during the events.
