Colombian School Bus Driver Arrested for Alleged 12-Year Kidnapping and Abuse of Girl

Carlos Humberto Grisales Higuita, a former school bus driver in Colombia, has been charged with kidnapping, sexual abuse of a minor, and producing child sexual abuse material.
Prosecutors allege he abducted a 7-year-old girl in 2012, kept her in captivity for 12 years, and manipulated her into believing the abuse was normal.
The victim was reportedly moved between various locations in Medellín and Bello, had her name changed, and was kept out of school and isolated from others.
At age 16, the girl confronted her alleged captor about the abuse, leading to her being locked in a house from which she escaped in February 2024.
Grisales Higuita has denied the charges and remains in custody as the case proceeds in Medellín, highlighting broader concerns about child sexual abuse in Colombia.
