Colombian Navy Uncovers New Cocaine Trafficking Route to Australia

The Colombian Navy intercepted three semi-submersible 'narco subs' carrying cocaine along a newly identified smuggling route from South America to Australia.
Operation Orion, a six-week multinational effort involving 62 countries, seized over 1,400 metric tons of drugs, including 225 tons of cocaine and 1,000 tons of marijuana.
The narco subs, capable of traveling 10,000 miles without refueling, reveal increasingly advanced engineering and are designed to evade detection at sea.
Australia, with some of the highest cocaine prices globally at $240,000 per kilogram, has become a key target for organized crime networks from Latin America and beyond.
The operation resulted in over 400 arrests and highlighted new alliances between criminal organizations across Latin America, Europe, and Oceania.
