College Student Wins $100K by Defeating Damian Lillard in NBA All-Star Challenge

Jaren Barajas, an 18-year-old from California, hit a dramatic buzzer-beater to win a shooting contest against NBA star Damian Lillard during the All-Star Weekend.

Jaren Barajas, a college freshman, won $100,000 in a shooting contest hosted by YouTuber MrBeast during the NBA All-Star Game at Chase Center in San Francisco.
The challenge required Barajas to make one deep three-point shot before Lillard could sink three, with Barajas banking his winning shot off the backboard as the clock expired.
Barajas credits his father, who surprised him with tickets to the game, for teaching him to use the backboard—a strategy that proved decisive in his victory.
The NBA also donated $50,000 each to Lillard’s scholarship fund for East Bay high schools and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland and San Francisco as part of the event.
Lillard, who praised Barajas’ excitement and called the moment life-changing, also failed to defend his title in the All-Star Weekend three-point contest, which was won by Tyler Herro.
