College Football Transfer Portal Sees Big Names

Kansas State's Will Howard and Miami's Tyler Van Dyke Among Those Entering Transfer Portal

  • Kansas State quarterback Will Howard has announced his intention to enter the college football transfer portal. Howard led the Wildcats to the Big 12 title last season and another bowl game this season.
  • Miami quarterback Tyler Van Dyke is also entering the transfer portal. Van Dyke was the Atlantic Coast Conference’s rookie of the year in 2021 and leaves Miami second on the school’s all-time list in completion percentage.
  • Kansas State running back Treshaun Ward and Mississippi State’s Will Rogers, among others, have also announced their plans to enter the portal.
  • Will Howard's departure means that Avery Johnson, one of the nation's best dual-threat quarterbacks coming out of high school, will likely start for the Wildcats in their bowl game.
  • Miami's situation at quarterback for its bowl game is unclear following Van Dyke's departure. The Hurricanes currently have just one healthy scholarship quarterback on its roster.
