Overview
- Cold-wave alerts covered most regions as frigid air from the northwest drove morning lows near minus 20 C in inland Gangwon, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration.
- Hwacheon-gun hit minus 20.2 C, Cheorwon reached minus 20 C and Pyeongchang recorded minus 19.9 C, with Seoul around minus 11 C and Incheon near minus 11.3 C.
- Heavy snow alerts were issued for South and North Jeolla, Jeju Island, and the eastern islands of Ulleung and Dokdo, with Ulleung reporting 30.1 cm by 8 a.m.
- Western and coastal areas were forecast to see additional accumulations of 2–7 cm in the Jeolla region and 5–10 cm on Jeju, Ulleung and Dokdo.
