Cold Wave Deepens in Himachal’s High Reaches After Fresh Snow as Tabo Hits -5.5°C

Forecasters expect a dry spell through early next week with temperatures set to gradually rise.

  • IMD confirmed fresh light snowfall in Lahaul-Spiti and higher reaches of Kinnaur and Kullu, with trace snow at Keylong and Kukumseri and light rain reported at a few mid-hill stations.
  • Tabo recorded the state’s lowest minimum at -5.5°C, while Keylong fell to -3.2°C, Kukumseri to -2.2°C and Kalpa to 0.2°C after a sharp overnight drop.
  • The ManaliLeh highway was blocked between Darcha and Sarchu and the KoksarPalchan route via Rohtang Pass was closed following the snowfall.
  • Local police rescued five tourists stranded near Chatru and transported them safely to Koksar.
  • Met officials project dry weather through Nov 11–12 with minimum temperatures rising by about 2–3°C over the next few days after the current chill.
