Overview
- The Servicio Meteorológico Nacional confirmed the arrival of Cold Front No. 1, which will affect northern and northeastern states and then track toward the Gulf of Mexico over a three- to four-day period.
- Forecasters expect intense to very strong rainfall in Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas, Durango, Chihuahua, Sonora and Aguascalientes with thunderstorms, possible hail and river rises.
- Authorities warn of strong gusts up to about 70 km/h and elevated coastal seas, including 3.0–5.0 meter waves off Baja California Sur, with Hurricane Rachel’s circulation boosting coastal winds and swell.
- Protección Civil and local agencies advise people to secure roofs and loose objects, clear drains, avoid parking under trees, protect sensitive plants and keep emergency supplies ready as daily advisories remain in effect.
- The SMN says this season could bring about 56 fronts through May 2027, above the 1990–2020 average, with a likely concentration of systems between November and February linked to a strengthening El Niño and higher flood and cold-night risk.
