Cold Blast Deepens in Mexico With Front 16 Approaching as Argentina Posts Wind and Storm Alerts

Forecasters flag dangerous gusts up to 90 km/h through Friday, plus flood risk with mountain snowfall in high terrain.

  • Mexico’s SMN reports Front 15 is driving sharp cooling, heavy rain and snow or sleet in sierras of Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua and later parts of Sinaloa and Durango.
  • Gusts are forecast to reach 80–90 km/h in Chihuahua, Coahuila and Durango, with authorities warning of landslides, river rises, reduced visibility and infrastructure hazards.
  • A second system, Front 16, is arriving over the northwest to reinforce cold, wind and precipitation from Thursday night into Friday, with continued wintry conditions in the far north.

  • Argentina’s SMN maintains yellow alerts including CABA for Nov. 20 with southerly winds of 30–50 km/h, gusts up to 75 km/h and 40–70 mm of rain, while other alerts cover provinces such as La Pampa, Neuquén, Río Negro, Mendoza, Chubut, Santa Cruz and Tierra del Fuego; Córdoba police warn zonda winds near 75 km/h with dust and high fire danger.
