Colapinto Faces Qualifying Pressure After Troubled Monaco Practice

Alpine is chasing fixes to front locking, traction and braking to give Colapinto a shot at a competitive grid slot before qualifying at 11:00 Argentina time.

Overview

  • Saturday morning final practice served as a qualifying rehearsal and left Colapinto down the order with limited clean laps while Andrea Kimi Antonelli set the fastest time.
  • Colapinto reported that the Alpine “does not feel good” because of repeated front-wheel locking that saps his confidence through corners and he made light contact with a wall in FP2 without major damage.
  • Alpine team director Steve Nielsen said the team is not satisfied with its position and that engineers are working overnight on balance, traction and braking for Colapinto’s car.
  • Qualifying is scheduled for 11:00 Argentina time and will be available mainly via Disney+ Premium and F1 TV Pro with only limited live TV coverage.
  • Track position is critical at Monaco because overtaking is extremely difficult, so Colapinto must convert any setup gains into a clean Q1 and Q2 performance to have a realistic chance of scoring points on race day.
