Colapinto Ends Singapore Friday 19th in Both Sessions, Laments Lack of Feel With Alpine

A lack of confidence with the A525 persisted through a disrupted, heat‑affected opening day.

Overview

  • Franco Colapinto placed 19th in FP1 and FP2 at Marina Bay, extending a season still without points.
  • Team-mate Pierre Gasly was quicker in both sessions, nearly a second ahead in FP1 and about seven tenths in FP2.
  • Colapinto said he felt inconsistent and lacked “feeling” with the Alpine, describing difficulty finding stability.
  • Practice was interrupted by incidents, including Alex Albon’s overheating Williams in FP1 and crashes for George Russell and Liam Lawson in FP2.
  • The FIA allowed cooling vests for the extreme conditions with a 0.5 kg ballast for non-users, and Colapinto opted not to use the vest.
