Colapinto 19th in Both Singapore Practices as Alpine Keeps 2026 Decision Open

The Argentine said he lacks confidence in the A525, putting added focus on Saturday’s FP3 and qualifying.

Overview

  • Franco Colapinto finished 19th in FP1 (1:33.324) and FP2 (1:33.139) at Marina Bay, more than two seconds off the leaders.
  • He reported feeling “inconsistent” with no feeling in the car and difficulty with corner-entry stability; he also declined to use the FIA-approved cooling vest.
  • Teammate Pierre Gasly set the internal benchmark, placing 13th in FP1 and 16th in FP2 to outpace Colapinto in both sessions.
  • Alpine director Steve Nielsen said “Por ahora no” when asked about confirming Colapinto for 2026, adding the team will decide later.
  • FP2 running was disrupted by red flags after crashes for George Russell and Liam Lawson and a pit-lane clash between Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc, with Fernando Alonso leading FP1 and Oscar Piastri topping FP2.
