• After reopening the file six months ago, a Colaba police team traced Chandrashekhar Madhukar Kalekar to Karanjani village in Dapoli using voter data, RTO records, court files and mobile IMEI tracking.
• He was detained Monday night, brought to Mumbai, produced before the Sessions Court on Tuesday and remanded to judicial custody until October 17.
• According to police, he admitted involvement during interrogation in the 1977 case alleging he stabbed a woman in Colaba, registered under Section 307 of the IPC.
• Court records show he was arrested in 1977, released on bail, failed to appear for hearings and was later declared a proclaimed offender after multiple warrants.
• Investigators tied recent activity to him through a 2015 Dapoli accident case and a 2023 driving licence renewal, while reports differ on his age and the victim’s current whereabouts are unknown.
