Coinbase Taps Chainlink to Power Tokenized U.S. Stocks on Base

The deal gives Base developers continuous onchain prices for tokenized shares so DeFi apps can value and use U.S. equities as financial building blocks.

Overview

  • Coinbase announced on Monday, August 24, 2026 that it has chosen Chainlink Data Feeds as the official oracle for Coinbase Tokenized Stocks on the Base blockchain.
  • Chainlink will supply continuous market pricing for named tickers such as NVDAc, METAc, AAPLc and GOOGLc so smart contracts can reference live equity prices onchain.
  • Each tokenized stock is issued as a B20 on Base and is backed 1:1 by the underlying share held in regulated custody with Alpaca under the Abu Dhabi Global Market framework.
  • Coinbase limits the product to eligible jurisdictions outside the U.S., and the announcement lifted short-term market bets on a possible Base token while the tokenized-equities category sits near $2.3 billion.
  • The integration turns tokenized stocks from transfer-only tokens into composable DeFi inputs that can be used as collateral, in lending markets, DEXs and structured products and signals faster TradFi–DeFi convergence.
