Overview
- Coinbase announced on Monday, August 24, 2026 that it has chosen Chainlink Data Feeds as the official oracle for Coinbase Tokenized Stocks on the Base blockchain.
- Chainlink will supply continuous market pricing for named tickers such as NVDAc, METAc, AAPLc and GOOGLc so smart contracts can reference live equity prices onchain.
- Each tokenized stock is issued as a B20 on Base and is backed 1:1 by the underlying share held in regulated custody with Alpaca under the Abu Dhabi Global Market framework.
- Coinbase limits the product to eligible jurisdictions outside the U.S., and the announcement lifted short-term market bets on a possible Base token while the tokenized-equities category sits near $2.3 billion.
- The integration turns tokenized stocks from transfer-only tokens into composable DeFi inputs that can be used as collateral, in lending markets, DEXs and structured products and signals faster TradFi–DeFi convergence.
