Overview
- Codex Executive Committee formally endorsed India-led group standards for whole millet grains, co-chaired with Mali, Nigeria and Senegal.
- The committee endorsed India’s proposed standard for fresh dates, reflecting recommendations from CCFFV23, and appointed India as co-chair for new fresh turmeric and broccoli standards.
- Delegates agreed to adopt SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) key performance indicators for the Codex 2026–2031 strategic plan.
- India highlighted its capacity-building programmes for Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Timor-Leste to strengthen regional food safety systems.
- These standards will go before the full Codex Alimentarius Commission for final approval at CAC48 in November 2025.
