Overview
- The KNMI issued a code yellow for dense mist that covers large parts of the country and remains in force through 10:00 Friday morning, with many places reporting visibility under 200 metres and some spots below 50 metres.
- The mist formed Thursday evening and persisted overnight, reducing sightlines during the Friday morning peak and slowing road traffic across affected provinces.
- Eindhoven Airport reported dozens of delayed incoming flights and at least two cancellations early Friday, and its stricter landing minima of about 550 metres make it more vulnerable to low-visibility disruption than Schiphol which can operate at roughly 75 metres.
- Drivers are advised to use front fog lights in dense mist and to only switch on rear fog lights when visibility drops below 50 metres to avoid blinding other road users.
- Forecasters expect visibility to improve toward and after late morning with sun possible around lunchtime in the south, but light winds and cool nights favor radiation fog so mist may redevelop tonight and the weekend will be cool and mostly dry with a chance of ground frost next week.
