Coco Gauff, the 19-year-old American tennis sensation, has started her 2024 season with a victory in the first round of the ASB Classic in Auckland, defeating Claire Liu 6-4, 6-2.
Gauff, who won the U.S. Open last year, is eager to replicate her success and is setting her sights on winning a second major title.
She is the first teenager to compete in a U.S. Open final since Serena Williams in 2001, and ended a six-year wait for a homegrown champion.
