Overview

  • Coca-Cola issued the voluntary recall on June 2 after detecting possible Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Topo Chico Mineral Water batches.
  • The recall targets 18-packs of 16.9-ounce glass bottles with lot number 13A2541 sold between May 20 and May 29 at select Costco warehouses in Texas and Louisiana and removed from 40 outlets across five states.
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa poses serious health risks for people with weakened immune systems but presents very low danger to healthy consumers, according to company and Cleveland Clinic statements.
  • No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled water, and customers may return affected bottles to Costco for a full refund.
  • Coca-Cola and Costco have set up a hotline at 1-800-GET-COKE for consumer inquiries and are monitoring return rates as the recall continues.
