Coca-Cola completes recall of Topo Chico water over contamination fears

Bottles sold through Costco alongside other retailers in five states have been removed from shelves with refunds available upon return

Overview

  • All impacted Topo Chico Mineral Water 16.9-ounce glass bottles in 18-pack cases bearing lot code 13A2541 were pulled from about 40 locations across Arizona, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas.
  • The voluntary recall was launched June 2 after tests indicated possible Pseudomonas aeruginosa contamination.
  • No illnesses have been reported related to the recalled products, according to Coca-Cola.
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa poses very low risk to healthy consumers but can cause serious infections in immunocompromised individuals, per Cleveland Clinic guidance.
  • Consumers who purchased the affected bottles between May 20 and May 29 can return them to Costco for a full refund and may call 1-800-GET-COKE with questions.
