Cobra Warrior 25-2 Underway in UK as U.S. B-52s Join Multinational Drills

The exercise tests high-end joint planning with heavy-bomber integration to strengthen allied interoperability.

Overview

  • The Royal Air Force is hosting the large-scale exercise from September 12 to October 3, centered at RAF Waddington with key assets operating from RAF Fairford.
  • Two U.S. Air Force B-52H Stratofortress bombers from the 307th Bomb Wing deployed to RAF Fairford around September 12 and began sorties by September 16.
  • Training focuses on Composite Air Operations in contested, degraded conditions to refine tactics, techniques and procedures across air, land and maritime elements.
  • Participants include the RAF, USAF, Royal Canadian Air Force, German and Italian air forces, the British Army, the Royal Navy and contracted adversary provider Draken.
  • The RAF has advised local communities to expect increased aircraft activity, including some later-than-normal evening flying during the exercise period.
