Coastal Wind Alert in Effect for Lima, Callao and Five Regions Through Nov. 10

The event is linked to the South Pacific Anticyclone, with Ica forecast to see the strongest gusts.

  • Senamhi's Aviso No. 400 is active for a 37-hour period from Sunday to Monday, warning of light to moderate coastal winds.
  • The alert covers Áncash, Callao, Ica, La Libertad, Lambayeque and Lima.
  • Forecasts call for gusts up to about 38 km/h in Ica, around 34 km/h on the central coast and near 32 km/h on the north coast, with Ica near 35 km/h on Monday; Ica also registered 50 km/h gusts on Nov. 6.
  • Authorities expect blowing dust and sand with reduced horizontal visibility, plus increased cloudiness with drizzle, fog and mist mainly during night and early morning hours.
  • Indeci and COEN are monitoring conditions and advise securing roofs and windows, taking caution on roads, protecting small boats and safeguarding people with respiratory or allergy conditions.
