Overview

• On May 27, 2025, Perkins pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and discharging a firearm during a violent crime on federal property.
• Court records show she traveled more than 300 miles from Alexandria, Virginia, to Ohio in March 2021 before shooting Matthew Dunmire in the back of the head on a hiking trail.
• Prosecutors say the killing was a revenge plot nearly four years after Perkins accused Dunmire of raping her in 2017, a claim that was not criminally pursued.
