The service opened an RFI with a Dec. 8 deadline to identify communities that meet prescribed acreage, capacity, proximity standards.

  • The Coast Guard reported 5,204 active-duty enlisted accessions in FY2025—about 121% of goal—plus 371 new officers and a third straight year meeting reserve targets.
  • On Nov. 10 the service issued a Request for Information seeking communities to host an additional training center, with responses due Dec. 8 via SAM.gov.
  • Requirements call for a 150–250 acre site near a commercial-service airport within 30 miles and facilities sized for roughly 1,200 recruits and 400 staff.
  • Specified buildouts include lodging for 1,200, a 400-seat dining hall, medical support for 1,000 with 200 daily medical and 200 dental encounters, 14 classrooms, an auditorium for 500+, a six-lane 25-yard pool, and a multipurpose sports complex.
  • Acting Commandant Adm. Kevin Lunday said current training capacity is being outpaced, and recruits will continue at Cape May until a new site comes online as part of Force Design 2028 growth planning of up to 15,000 personnel.
