Overview
- Passengers and crew on the Steamship Authority’s M/V Island Home reported a person in the water near Woods Hole around 3:19–3:30 p.m.
- A Coast Guard helicopter from Air Station Cape Cod located the individual off Nobska Point at about 4:25 p.m. and deployed a rescue swimmer.
- The person was hoisted into the aircraft, flown to Joint Base Cape Cod, and then transported by EMS to Falmouth Hospital for exposure treatment.
- Officials reported the individual was in stable condition with no serious injuries Monday evening.
- Rough seas and low visibility from a nor’easter complicated an approximately hour-long search that involved local fire, police, and Environmental Police units.
