Overview

  • The haul included about 61,740 pounds of cocaine and 14,400 pounds of marijuana with an estimated value of $473 million.
  • The seizures came from 19 interdictions conducted between June 26 and Aug. 18 in international waters.
  • Officials attributed the results to an operational surge that added cutters, sniper-equipped HITRON helicopters, LEDET teams, drones and long-range patrol aircraft.
  • Assets involved included three Coast Guard cutters, two U.S. Navy warships and the Dutch ship HNLMS Friesland, alongside CBP and Joint Interagency Task Force-South.
  • Cutter Hamilton’s crew seized about 47,000 pounds of cocaine, intercepted 11 go-fast boats and detained 34 suspected traffickers, aided by an onboard drone unit.
